William Shatner has shared a beautiful tribute to his Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy, composed of fan-submitted Vulcan salute pictures.
Earlier this year, Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who immortalized the iconic character Mr. Spock, passed away aged 83.
His co-star William Shatner (Captain Kirk) announced this month that he will be writing a book about Nimoy’s life, but he is also paying tribute to his long-time friend in other ways.
Having asked for selfies of fans doing the Vulcan salute, Shatner created this beautiful collage of images overlaying an iconic picture of Spock:
William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy’s friendship spanned decades, perhaps inspired by their Star Trek characters’ epic bromance.
But despite Kirk and Spock’s closeness, Shatner and Nimoy did not, in fact, get on very well when they first began working together in the 1960s.
Over the years they grew closer, however, and Shatner has many times said that he loved Nimoy like a brother.
William Shatner, whose “rivalry” with Supernatural star Misha Collins has been an ongoing joke on social media, created the tribute to Leonard Nimoy as part of Collins’ G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S project.
Why did I ask for all those #LLAP selfies? For a @gishwhes task as a tribute to Leonard. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/3NQZ5siINe

G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S, for the uninitiated, is a gigantic worldwide scavenger hunt hosted by Misha Collins (the acronym literally stands for “Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen”).
During early August, teams of 15 competed to win the grand prize, which this time is a trip to Costa Rica with Collins himself. Each year, competitors are given a variety of outlandish tasks, such as ordering food in Shakespearean verse, and wearing a swimsuit made entirely of teabags.
We don’t know what task Shatner was trying to complete here, but we’re pretty sure he’s going to score top points!
