Twilight – DVD Information

Twilight

Twilight was released on DVD in North America on March 21st 2009, immediately going to the number one spot on the DVD Sales Chart and emerging as the biggest selling DVD of the year. The DVD sold over three million copies domestically on its weekend of release and continued to break records when released globally in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. The Twilight Blu-Ray DVD was initially released on the same day and date as the DVD exclusively at Best Buy and Target and was later sent to all other retailers on May 5th 2009 for release.

The DVD was released in various formats with many special features alongside the movie itself.  Available for purchase was the basic one disk edition and a special two disk edition. A three disk deluxe edition from HMV was available to buy that offered a Twilight film cell with your purchase and Borders released another special edition with added bonus features and exclusive photo cards. As mentioned above Target and Best Buy released a special Blu-Ray edition which was a two disk version.

The Special Features for the DVD included:

  • An audio commentary with director Catherine Hardwicke, Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart

  • Five extended scenes introduced by Catherine Hardwicke

  • Five deleted scenes introduced by Catherine Hardwicke

  • A Seven Part Documentary: The Adventure Begins: The Journey from Page to Screen. This looked in detail at the beginning, pre-production, the vampires, capturing the action, vampire baseball, the final battle and post production.

  • Three Music videos: Paramore, Muse and Linkin Park

  • A Comic-Con Phenomenon featurette

  • Becoming Edward and Bella

  • Music: The Heartbeat of Twilight

  • Catherine Hardwicke’s vampire kiss montage and ‘Bella’s Lullaby Remix’ music video

  • Edward’s Piano Concert

  • A conversation with Twilight author Stephenie Meyer

New Moon

New Moon was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 20th 2010 and surpassed Twilight’s sales by selling over four million copies domestically in its first weekend of release. It reached the number one spot on the DVD Sales Chart in North America and throughout the globe. It emerged as the third biggest selling DVD of the year.

The DVD was released in various versions and with many special features. Available to purchase was a one disk version and a special two disk edition. Special retail editions were also available. Walmart released an Ultimate Fan Edition with a 7-minute sneak-peek at Eclipse, Target released a three disk edition with extra features and a New Moon Film Cell, HMV UK released a two disc edition with a memory box and Borders released their own version with a medallion necklace and further new content.

Eclipse

Eclipse was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Dec 4th 2010 selling over three million copies on the first weekend of its release in the United States. The DVD also became the fifth biggest selling DVD of 2010 just two places behind New Moon and continued, like its predecessors, on its release to take the number one spot in countries throughout the world.

The DVD was released in various editions and with many special features. Available to purchase was the basic one disk version and a two disk edition. Walmart released a Special Blu-Ray/DVD edition where you get the film on both Blu-Ray and DVD format within the one case and Target also released a similar version with added deluxe packaging and six collectible photo-cards.

Breaking Dawn – Part 1

Breaking Dawn was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Feb 11th 2012 with 3.2 million copies being sold in the United States on the day of its release.  The DVD again took the number one spot in the charts and is on schedule to become one of the biggest selling DVDs of the year. Based on the sales of the previous films on DVD, it should do well when released in countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia as well.

The DVD was released in various versions and with several special features. Available to purchase was a one disk version and a two disk edition. Target again released their own two disk special edition and provided fans with an exclusive opportunity to see a never before seen clip from Breaking Dawn Part II when purchasing their version at midnight.
