Trials of Apollo is just a couple weeks away, and today we got a look at the book trailer for Rick Riordan’s next Percy Jackson novel.
Update 2: The third and final Hidden Oracle trailer landed online. We only have one more day to go before the book hits shelves!
UPDATE 1: The second Hidden Oracle trailer has arrived, and it’s just as funny as the first.
Original story: The trailer is only 30-seconds in length, but it does a fantastic job of setting the tone for Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle. Check it out below:
The trailer doesn’t give us much more information than we already know, which is that Apollo screwed up, pissed off Zeus, and his father made him human as punishment. But the trailer still does a fantastic job of giving us that patented Riordan humor, which is almost always at the expense of his heroes.
The synopsis for the book reads, “How do you punish a god? By making him human. After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disoriented, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus’s favor. But Apollo has many enemies — gods, monsters, and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed. Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go… an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.”
Rest assured that Riordan has already said we’ll see “pretty much every” Percy Jackson character in this five-book series. It comes out May 3.
If you managed to pick up Demigods and Magicians, the collection of short stories where Percy and Annabeth meet the Kanes, then you got the first chapters to his new series about Norse gods (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer) and The Hidden Oracle. The first chapter of the latter book also didn’t give much away (we broke it down here), other than revealing the first
terrible incredible haiku from the god himself.
