The excellent, Golden Globe-winning television series Transparent starring Jeffrey Tambor is streaming for free on Amazon all day Saturday.
In light of its two wins at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards (“Best Musical or Comedy Series” and “Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series”), Amazon has made Transparent free-to-stream for 24 hours only. To do so, load up the Amazon Instant Video app for TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, or visit Amazon.com/Transparent. The free streaming ends Saturday at 11:59 p.m. eastern/8:59 p.m. pacific.
Transparent is typically only available for Amazon Prime subscribers — a service that costs $99/year — but the online shopping giant wants to reach out to of new customers who have heard about the series but balked at the cost.
Also today only, Amazon Prime is available for $72 for the year instead of the usual $99 price tag. Amazon went with “72” because it was the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards at which Transparent won.
Amazon is clearly hoping to grab some new Prime customers today. Will you be watching?
Transparent has already been renewed for a second season, so if you’re on the fence about signing up, now’s the time to do so.
In addition to Tambor, the series co-stars Judith Light (Dallas), Gaby Hoffmann (Girls), Amy Landecker (Louie) and Jay Duplass (Togetherness).
