We missed him in Transformers: Age of Extinction, but Tyrese Gibson will definitely be back for Transformers: The Last Knight.
Taking to his Instagram on Monday afternoon, actor Tyrese Gibson posted a picture of himself with Director Michael Bay, the Transformers logo conspicuously lit up in the background.
He also posted a video messing with Michael Bay, ribbing him for being shy on camera.
Gibson seems genuinely excited to be back for the next Transformers installment, which is due out the summer of 2017. Mark Wahlberg will be back to headline the film, though the plot is currently unknown.
Epps returning to the franchise is great news for those who loved him in the first three movies, particularly the original. If you’ve forgotten exactly who he is, I’ve got a handy video that reminds you of his great contribution to the Transformers movies — and, perhaps, to cinema as a whole.
In all seriousness, Epps is a fantastic character who skillfully balances humor and badassery. After his absence in Transformers 4, it’ll be interesting to see how he is reinserted back into the story. Watching Epps and Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager team up would be a hoot and a half, and I, for one, am excited to see what comes of it.
You can also catch Gibson in the Fast & Furious movies as Roman Pearce. Fast 8 is currently filming.
