Last week’s episode was quite a doozy, so check out our recap of The Whispers season 1, episode 7,”Whatever it Takes” in preparation for tonight’s brand new episode.
‘The Whispers’ season 1, episode 7 recap
Sean, Wes, and an assortment of government officials, including the President, are sitting in a conference room together discussing what exactly has happened to Sean, which morphs into a debate of Drill and what he wants.
Sean is at odds with Wes. Wes thinks he has the best plan to protect the world from Drill, but Sean insists that the only way to protect the world is to blow the fulgurite to kingdom come.
The President asks Wes to take him to the fulgurite, in order to get a better understanding of what they’re dealing with.
During all of this, we get glimpses of the First Lady and her daughter in the back of a car. The little girl asks to borrow her mom’s phone to play a game, and the last thing we see before the credits roll is her doll shoved under the back of the front seat.
Wes’ C.O. makes it clear to Sean that he has no intention of letting him go free. He gives Sean two options: he can help them by going to the “black site,” or he can go to prison due to the evidence piled up against him from the goings on of the first 6 episodes.
The President visits the fulgurite and decides to go with Wes’ plan. Protect the rock and use it to negotiate with Drill. The President then gets in the same limo we saw earlier, and picks up the doll his daughter left behind. He then returns to the White House.
Sean returns home and has a sweet reunion with Henry, and a cold one with Claire. Henry runs him from room to room, catching him up on all the things that have gone on since he disappeared from their lives such a short time ago. Wes calls to warn Claire to be careful around Sean. She insists that they will all be fine, and that Sean is not a threat to her or Henry.
Back at the White House, the President’s daughter has her doll back, and her mother’s phone is still missing. We’d bet every dollar we have that the phone is stuffed into that doll somehow. She gets up and enters her closet which is aglow with flickering lights.
Henry comes downstairs to find his dad making breakfast, which seems to be an old tradition for them. Sean doesn’t partake, but he sits beside Henry as he indulges in some yummy looking blueberry pancakes. Sean asks Henry to look out for Claire while he’s gone working on a new mission. Henry wants his dad to promise he will come back, and when Sean does, Henry has trouble believing it’s the truth.
Sean has volunteered to be the government guinea pig, but he plans to use his time in their grip to get the scientists to help him stop Drill once and for all.
Claire goes to the Lawrence house to berate Wes for letting the government steal Sean away from her to be an experiment. Claire asks for a chance to talk to Sean. Wes agrees.
Sean is working hard to get the doctor on his side. He has things to tell her about his crash that should get her blood pumping. He just wants to stop Drill before anything worse can happen.
Claire gets a flack jacket from her partner, and uses it to conceal some valuable tools that she undoubtedly intends to sneak into Sean’s possession.
Lena goes outside to where she and Minx had talked with Drill the day before, to beg Drill to leave Minx out of his plans. While she is doing that, Minx is inside watching the show that the President’s daughter had the doll for. Lena doesn’t get an answer from Drill, so she goes inside to ask Minx where Drill is.
Sean starts telling the doctor about the visions he had when the blue light flooded his vision before the crash. He tells stories of a world in which all the people were gone, even as the world we know stands still as if we never left.
Wes figures out that the President’s daughter left the doll in the limo on purpose. When he makes the link between the doll and Drill, he rushes to the White House to figure out if Drill was able to track the President’s movements. He finds her mother’s phone. The President and Wes then realize that Drill knows where the fulgurite is, and that it isn’t a weapon like they thought. It’s a phone. It’s a way for Drill to communicate and call for reinforcements.
Claire goes to the fulgurite site to visit Sean. It turns out that Sean left Claire a list of things he needed to destroy the fulgurite. Sean has a plan, and intends to use Claire and the doctor to see it through. They are going to deactivate the magnetic field hiding the fulgurite from Drill, and use the magnets to eliminate the rock.
The lights go down as Drill gets his hands on the fulgurite. Sean, Claire and the doctor were so close, but Wes and his soldiers kept them from destroying the rock before Drill could use it against them.
Wes drags Claire away at Sean’s behest so he can blow the fulgurite and take out Drill and the rock in one blast. The blast blows out the glass separating them from the room, and Claire and Wes wake to find a lot of rubble. Sean is still alive, and calls out for Claire from beneath some debris. She helps him up, and they embrace. Wes and Sean shake hands. They’ve made peace.
Wes tells Sean and Claire to take his car and run. He will pick up the pieces and figure all this out, but it’s gonna take time to clear their names. Meanwhile, Claire’s partner is sitting outside the Bennigan residence, and is instructed to take Henry.
Lena awakes to Minx standing in the moonlight, telling her mom that Drill is there, and needs a favor from Lena. She thinks the two could help each other.
Check out the sneak peek for tonight’s episode and get ready to see how Drill plans to use Lena, which sends more than a chill down our spines.
