On the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries we saw raves, rippers and more emotionless vampires than we anticipated.
Restart
Caroline is at Scull Bar getting ridiculously drunk after she turned off her emotions, and she runs into Liam who hits on her as soon as he walks up. One thing leads to another and she takes him out to make out but then ends up feeding on him.
The next day Elena goes searching for Caroline but finds that she’s taken all of her stuff out of their dorm and it seems like she’s left for good, and then Bonnie shows up to the dorm and lets Elena know she’s alive. They do a toast to her return and then Bonnie says she doesn’t want anyone to tell Jeremy she’s back yet because they have other things to worry about.
Lo’ and behold Caroline shows up with new clothes and sheets and tells them about her time with Liam. Afraid that he’s now dead, Elena asks the obvious and Caroline says that she didn’t kill him. But not because it was her guilt that stopped her, instead it was because it would’ve been stupid to do so in public. Caroline kept him alive and then goes on to make a deal with Elena: If they leave her alone and don’t attempt to bring her humanity back for one year, she promises to be good and not kill anyone. Oh, and if they do attempt to bring her humanity back? She says she’ll become their worst nightmare.
Stefan goes to ask Liam about what happened between him and Caroline and it’s clear he doesn’t remember the vampire attack, but then Stefan finds out there’s a party that night at Whitmore house that Caroline is inviting all the cute boys to. Elena and Bonnie show up to the rave to look for Caroline and find her with a new hair style, dancing and being all sexy-like.
Killer Caroline
Enzo is still up to his dirty ways, this time meeting up with Sarah at a cafe wanting to spend more time with her and tell her about his vampire abilities. But when he tells her that he’s a vampire she’s not shocked, she thought there was more to it.
Stefan shows up to the rave and tells Elena about how Liam doesn’t have bite marks and doesn’t remember anything, but Elena thinks it’s fine that her emotional switch is off because no one has been hurt and Caroline is being practical about it. Stefan feels responsible for how hurt Caroline felt that she wanted to flip her switch and convinces Elena to help him turn her emotions back on.
Stefan goes to talk with Caroline and finally tells her how he feels, but it’s too late. Pissed that he tried to bring her humanity back, Caroline tells him he shouldn’t have done that and takes Liam somewhere. She then meets up with Enzo in the parking lot, who tells her about Sarah and she informs him that Stefan probably compelled Sarah to not care about vampires. During their interaction Caroline manages to swipe Enzo’s phone and decides to give Sarah a text.
Caroline lures Sarah over back to Scull Bar, and informs Stefan that she’s going to kill her because of his attempt to bring back her humanity. Elena and Stefan show up and ask where Sarah is, but she informs them that Liam currently has her and has been compelled to perform surgery on her while she’s alive. Caroline wants Stefan to shut off his humanity so he doesn’t ever attempt to change her back ever again.
Stefan refuses, and so Caroline tells Liam to operate on Sarah. Fortunately Stefan previously compelled Liam to tell him the truth, and Liam tells him where they are so Elena goes to save them. While she’s off trying to do that Stefan gets in a fight with Caroline and ends up getting stabbed by her, after which Caroline tells Liam to remove Sarah’s heart.
Elena can’t find Liam or Sarah, so Stefan decides to flip his humanity switch off to save them, and reminds Elena that she needs to bring him back. Unfortunately for everyone, Elena does end up finding them, but it’s too late: Stefan’s humanity is off.
The Salvatore Ripper
Meanwhile, Damon goes to his family’s crypt to dig out his mother’s coffin. Kai is also there for some reason, and he’s trying to convince Damon that the woman Bonnie caught on tape was indeed his mother, but Damon doesn’t believe it because he’s adamant his mother died of consumption in 1858. He opens up the coffin and, alas, there is no body.
Damon knows that Kai can get the ascendant they need for the 1903 prison world his mother is in and asks him to get it, but Kai requests that Damon bring him to Bonnie so he could apologize for everything he’s done to her. Damon calls Bonnie but she’s not even receptive to Kai’s name, so he doesn’t bother asking her for a favor.
Damon tells Kai there’s no way he’s going to be getting near Bonnie, and Kai says that’s too bad because his mom’s story was really interesting. He continues by saying he learned that Mama Salvatore, Lily, was captured on a dock in New York City in 1903. She just arrived from Europe, but Kai won’t spill the details unless he gets to talk with Bonnie.
Bonnie isn’t feeling well at the rave, but then Damon shows up with Kai, who tries to apologize but she ends up storming off. She ends up going back to her dorm in a magical rage, bursting the fireplace into flames. Damon comes over to tell her what’s going on but she won’t listen, instead she demands he listen as she tells him all the things Kai has done to her, also mimicking those things on Damon’s body (stab wounds, choking, etc.). She’s clearly distraught and using magic as her outlet, and when she’s done she demands Damon to leave.
Kai shows up to the Salvatore house later and tells Damon that there are only two prison worlds in existence: His, and Lily’s. Damon demands he bring her back, but Kai says he really doesn’t want to do that because his mother is a ripper. Apparently Lily turned into a vampire in 1858 and faked her death, and went to Europe where she killed and killed until she had to move to avoid being caught, where she killed again. Apparently she killed around three thousand people, and the Gemini coven made it their duty to stop her. So now Damon doesn’t know what to do.
