Last month, we told you Summit’s film adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower received an R rating in the United States for “teen drug and alcohol use, and some sexual references.”
Summit immediately appealed MPAA’s decision last month.
Deadline now reports that the film is rated PG-13 “on appeal for mature thematic material, drug and alcohol use, sexual content including references, and a fight – all involving teens.”
The new PG-13 rating will hopefully not isolate anyone who has read the book and also wants to see the movie, which was a problem when the film was rated R.
There is no official release date yet, but it is due out sometime in 2012. Logan Lerman and Nina Dobrev will star alongside Emma Watson.
Are you happy the film is now rated PG-13? Would you see the movie regardless of the rating?
