A grand coronation
Prince Wu describes to Mako the wonders of the upcoming coronation. Mako tells President Raiko he doesn’t think Wu’s ready for the Earth throne.
Tenzin tells Raiko there’s reason to be concerned for Kuvira’s rising power. Kuvira’s opposition is said to be put into prison camps when they don’t agree with her.
Toph in full form
Toph tells Korra that the world doesn’t necessarily need her, and tells the Avatar that she’ll help her because Toph can’t stand how pathetic Korra is.
Bolin’s new girlfriend
Eska mistakes Kuvira for Bolin’s love interest. “Boss. Girlfirend. Same thing.” Varrick’s crimes have been forgiven by Raiko. The Fire Ferret brothers greet each other, with Bolin singing the praises of the power hungry “peacekeeper.”
Batar tells Su of his engagement to Kuvira, but the metalbending leader shows her distaste. Wu starts to freak out that the royal jewels aren’t in order for the event.
The original Beifong
Korra doesn’t stand a chance against Toph. The two duel, with Toph dodging the Avatar with ease. Toph states that she’s more connected to the world via the swamp than she would be in civilization.
The Coronation
? The Fire Lord, Zuko's daughter, makes an appearance at Wu's event. After being honored, Kuvira gives a speech where she states Wu's political power is nothing compared to hers. "The Earth Kingdom is no more," she asserts. The crowd receives her surprisingly well.Making history
Bolin confides in Varrick that Kuvira’s takeover is rubbing Bolin all wrong. Kuvira then asks Bolin to stick with him through their upcoming opposition. Su confronts Kuvira on behalf of the world leaders. Su begs Kuvira to step down, but the dictator denies their request and replies with a threat toward Zaofu.
Wu whines to Mako about the day’s events, and Bolin comes to try to convert Mako. Bolin offends Mako, accomplishing the exact opposite of his intended task.
Tormenting the Avatar
Toph is elated at her power against the Avatar. Korra is shocked to learn she still has metal poison in her blood. Toph attempts to remove the remains, but Korra can't relax to let that happen. Toph figures that Korra subconsciously wants to keep the metal in her to prevent going back to her job as Avatar.Rising action
While shopping, Wu meets angry opposition, but Mako fends off the mob with ease. At the Earth Kingdom palace, Wu breaks down, and Mako brings him back down with some real talk.
Tenzin asks his three eldest children to locate the Avatar. Varrick is developing a sinister new technology for Kuvira using some spirit vines.
