The Girl on the Train has seen another major casting change: Jared Leto steps off, and Luke Evans steps on.
We were all excited to learn that Marvel hero Chris Evans and soon-to-be DC villain Jared Leto would be boarding The Girl on the Train, the adaptation of the bestselling novel by Paula Hawkins.
But last month it was announced that Chris Evans’ place had been filled by Justin Theroux, due to a scheduling conflict.
Now, Jared Leto has had to bow out of the project as well, also due to scheduling conflicts, and The Hollywood Reporter has learned that The Hobbit actor Luke Evans is stepping in to replace him.
The Girl on the Train stars Emily Blunt as the titular girl, who has spiraled into alcoholism and depression after her husband (Theroux) left her for another woman (Rebecca Ferguson).

Blunt’s character becomes obsessed with a seemingly perfect couple she meets on the train. When she witnesses a murder, she begins to believe she’s somehow involved with the crime.
Evans (Luke, not Chris) will be playing the husband of Haley Bennet, of one of Blunt’s neighbors who goes missing.
Luke Evans will also be starring opposite Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast, set for release in 2017. This year he stars in High-Rise with Tom Hiddleston, and is currently working Message From the King.
The Girl on the Train is directed by Tate Taylor, with a screenplay by Erin Cressida Wilson. It hits cinemas on October 7, 2016.
