The CW has released photos from the Flash season 3 premiere, titled “Flashpoint,” that tease the new timeline Barry created.
At the end of the Flash season 2 finale, Barry, fresh off the pain of watching Zoom murder his father in front of him, decided to go back in time and this time save his mother from the Reverse Flash.
Since then, we’ve wondered what kind of world would result from Barry making such a major change — one, it’s important to note, that he decided not to make in the season 1 finale.
The season 3 trailer gave us our first look at the new world, and now we have photos from the season 3 premiere to give us more hints:
In these photos, we see Barry and Iris — though we know from the trailer that Barry and Iris are not the close friends they were in the other timeline in the Flashpoint timeline. We also see a happy Allen family, which was obviously Barry’s goal for changing history.
Barry has also locked up Eobard Thawne; hopefully that cage has a bit of anti-metahuman kick to it, or the Reverse Flash won’t be a prisoner for long.
And then there is Wally as Kid Flash, which was definitely an unintentional consequence of Barry traveling through time. How will Barry will react to this new development? And will this be something that translates when the timeline returns to normal?
The synopsis for The Flash season 3 reads:
Blinded by anger, Barry unwittingly plays into Zoom’s game and uncovers the evil speedster’s true goal: to destroy all Earths in the multiverse. In the race of his life, Barry ultimately gets the upper hand against Zoom and defeats his nemesis. But unable to celebrate victory, Barry makes a world-shaking decision and speeds back in time to the night his mother died to stop Reverse Flash from killing her, irrevocably changing his past and redetermining his future.
The Flash season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
