Things got a little out of hand and out of time on tonight’s episode of The Flash
Weather Wizards
The episode starts with a flashback from a year ago, when Clyde Mardon and his brother, Mark, got into the plane that crashed in the storm. It shows how they got hit by the storm.
In present day Barry goes on a bowling date with Linda only to find that Iris and Eddie are also there, so it turns into a super awkward double date, and everyone is really uncomfortable.
Meanwhile Mark turns up at the police morgue, demanding the coroner to tell him who shot his brother, using his weather powers against him. The silent alarm trips, causing Barry and Eddie to leave their date to go to the scene of the crime where Barry finds the coroner dead. Eddie finds a recording of Mark demanding the information, and it turns our the coroner did tell him who killed his brother, but he killed him anyway.
Back at the lab, Cisco says that he came up with something that could stop Mardon from having the ability to control the weather. Barry then explains to Wells that while he was running to the crime scene last night he saw another version of himself running by his side, but Wells says they should focus on the Mardon case first.
Awkward Love
Iris shows up to the precinct to talk to Eddie and he says that after their awkward date he didn’t feel comfortable with how he felt. He thinks something has changed between the two of them, and he’s not okay with it.
On a car ride with Joe, Barry asks him for advice because he’s in love with Iris again. Awww. But then their talk gets cut short by Mardon’s attempt to kill Joe with lightning. Barry saves them, and when they get back to the precinct the captain refuses to let Joe work on the case because he doesn’t want him to die.
At Central City News, Iris’ partner tells her he has a file full of suspicious leads about Wells, and wants her to look into it. She also talks to Linda, Barry’s girlfriend, to apologize for the date but then Linda tells her she knew that Iris had feelings for Barry and walks away. Iris then meets Barry for coffee later and asks him about Wells, to ask if he’s noticed anything weird about him because he was the last person to see Staggs alive. However, Barry defends Wells and says there isn’t a story there.
At the lab, Cisco basically reinvents the sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who, except it will take out all the energy from the air that Mark uses to control the weather. Barry ends up telling Cisco about Iris’ suspicions, and that causes him to talk to Joe about Wells but then Joe says he was wrong all along. Unfortunately Cisco leaves just as Mark gets to the precinct.
Captain, Oh Captain
Joe and Mark end up duking it out, with the sonic screwdriver device too far for Joe to reach, but then Barry ends up and starts being the Doctor, we mean starts using the device, which totally works and stops Mark from attacking, although he does escape. Unfortunately Barry didn’t save everyone in time — the Captain was severely injured and has extreme brain damage, so he might not be the same person they know when he wakes up and might not walk again.
At the lab, Cisco asks Caitlin what she thinks of Wells. He explains that things aren’t adding up, and how there’s no way the reverse flash should’ve escaped when they had him trapped. Cisco then asks Caitlin to keep Wells out of the lab for the night.
At the hospital taking care of the Captain, Joe starts being ridiculously stubborn with Barry and insists that he fight Mark alone because he thinks he could fight him, so he tells Barry to stay by Iris’ side.
Time Tsunami
Barry ends up going to Central City News and meets Mason, Iris’ partner, who tells him that Wells is a sociopath and a liar. He thinks that Wells killed Staggs and that he has evidence in a secure file that will clear everything, but Barry will have to wait to read about it in the Sunday paper. Barry goes to visit Iris to ask what the proof is, but Iris says she doesn’t know. What she does know, apparently is that Linda is not the right woman for Barry. Ooooooh.
Joe goes to find the old Marden brother hideout that Mark and Clyde used six years ago, and Eddie shows up to help him take Mark on. They enter the hideout and Mark was definitely just there, and they’re about to leave when Joe gets sucked out of the window. He wakes up handcuffed to a pier with a broken leg, and Mark says that he’s lucky because when fell out of the plane he broke every bone in his body. At the precinct, Eddie tells the entire team that they need to scout the city until they find Joe, and Iris gets a call from Mark saying where he is and that she should come alone, but of course Barry goes with her.
They arrive at the pier, and Mark starts controlling the weather again. Barry tries to get Iris to leave, but she won’t, instead she tells him she has feelings for him and they FINALLY kiss! Unfortunately Mark starts a tsunami that Barry has to stop, and he changes into the Flash in front of Iris to stop it, having to run back and forth to stop the wave from hitting the city. While he’s running back and forth, he ends up traveling back in time. Woops.
At the lab Cisco starts working with the containment field that was used to hold the reverse Flash to see what really went wrong that night. He runs the tests and it says nothing is wrong, but then the reverse Flash shows up in the containment field. Meanwhile, however, Wells is with Caitlin at the cafe…so we’re very confused.
But we’re not confused for long. While at the cafe Wells tells Caitlin that they should go to Star Labs to help Cisco figure out how to track weather or some shit and she gets the coffee to go, but then when she turns around he is NOT in his chair! At the labs, the reverse Flash says his goals are beyond Cisco’s understanding and he’s not like the Flash at all, and then Wells shows up (standing) and says he’s like the reverse.
Wells tells Cisco he’s very clever, and reintroduces himself to Cisco as Eobard Thawne, a distant relative of Eddie. He then shows Cisco how he could produce two images of himself, and Cisco is freaking out. Cisco proceeds to freak out as Eobard tells him it was never his intention to kill Nora Allen – he was there to kill Barry. Wells has been teaching Barry how to move faster because it was a means to an end – he’s been stuck “here” for 15 years, and the Flash’s speed is the key to him returning to his time. Wells says that no one is going to prevent that from happening, and he kills Cisco. WHAT.
