News is starting to trickle in as the cast and crew of The 100 continue to work hard on season 3. Check out how a few new faces are going to complicate life on the ground even further.
Update 9/4/15: Despite Eonline’s report in their “Fall TV Spoiler-Rama” article, a few tweets from the man himself, Jason Rothenberg, have eliminated any chance of seeing a pregnancy in The 100 season 3. We’re gonna take the showrunner’s word on this one, as who could know what to expect in season 3 better than him? Check out the tweets below and let us know if you’re disappointed to see this possible plot thread disappear.

Cheapen it? Not sure. I'm sure there's a way to do that well. We're just not doing it. #The100 @emi_h96

Original story
The first new member of the cast this year is Michael Beach, known best for his work on Third Watch, but who has recently had substantial roles on Sons of Anarchy and The Blacklist. He will be playing an Arker named Pike who is described in an interview with ew.com as being a “tough and charismatic member of the Ark with a staunch moral code.”
Few characters left on the show are staunchly moral about anything anymore, as Clarke, Abby, and even Jaha have had to resort to actions they couldn’t imagine they’d even be considering taking back in their Ark days. When survival is at stake, it changes how you view morally right and wrong. Pike is sure to ruffle a few feathers, and with an actor as seasoned and impressive as Michael Beach, he’ll probably have you eating up every word he says as he does so.
We’re also getting a new recurring Grounder character named Roan according to The Wrap. Roan will be portrayed by Zach McGowan of Black Sails and Shameless fame. The character is described as “a rogue Grounder warrior who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.”
“Rogue Grounder” makes us wonder if maybe he’ll find himself a few allies elsewhere. Maybe he and Clarke will have a little bonding session while she’s on her solo journey. Anything is possible in the world of The 100, even trust between people of two clans that have established fragile truce after fragile truce only to blow all that progress at the opportune moment.
We have no problem seeing these guys fit in with the rough and tumble world of The 100. And seeing a couple of older characters come aboard is welcome as adults have not had the best history on this show. Maybe these two will further shake up the adult/teenager dynamic that has been in flux since the pilot.
Thanks to this article from Eonline.com, we have also learned that someone will be pregnant in season 3. The only eliminations we can make (courtesy of Jason Rothenberg) are Clarke and Octavia, which leaves Raven and Abby the most likely candidates to be expecting. The realities of having a baby in the unstable world on the ground are likely to cause some serious difficulties, not only for the mother, but for the whole community. This does bring a lovely dose of reality to the table though, as birth control would have such low importance and availability, someone was bound to get knocked up sooner or later. It’s not as if they have Netflix to keep them busy or anything.
