It’s not such a secret anymore, but Theo actor Cody Christian will be returning to Teen Wolf for season 6.
Our first hint that Christian may be heading back to Teen Wolf was when his name was added to the cast attending the show’s Nerd HQ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 before shortly being taken off the list. We’ve known for a while that Theo isn’t dead and gone, but when the actor showed up to the Teen Wolf press rooms for season 6, it confirmed his return to the show.
We last saw Theo, broken and beaten, being dragged down to hell by his sister — the very one he killed when they were just kids. He did all of this so he could become the perfect chimera, but despite the advances the Dread Doctors made with Theo, he never quite was the perfect subject.
When we spoke to creator Jeff Davis in March, he told us how hard it was to kill the character, but the writers also knew he had to get what was coming to him. He paid for his sins, but now it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll learn his lessons from last year.
In the press room at SDCC, we spoke to Cody Christian about his triumphant return, but it turns out he may not be walking with his head held quite so high these days.
The actor told us we’ll be seeing what Theo has gone through while he’s been in Hell and how this has affected him as a person. He’s still going to have some of those same personality quirks that we love to hate, but he’s also going to come back a broken man.
With the Ghost Riders in town, Theo is determined to stay alive after returning from the dead, and if that means he has to put in the effort to repair his relationships with Scott and the rest of his pack, then he’s willing to put in that work. Unfortunately for Theo, despite the fact he’s begun walking the path to redemption, he’s not welcomed back to Beacon Hills with open arms.
But, lucky for Theo, he also has some information that will prove useful to our heroes, which may help him get back in their good graces. He’s also not going to be affected by the Ghost Riders in the same way as the others, which will also prove useful to both Theo, in terms of staying alive, and the others, in terms of defeating the Big Bad this season. Either way, you can expect a little more humility from Theo than usual this year.
