The hero of Teen Wolf season 5 may not be Scott McCall.
In an interview with EW, Teen Wolf Showrunner Jeff Davis previews the fight against the Big Bad of this season, the Beast of Gévaudan, saying it may be up to Lydia to save everyone.
This should not come as a surprise to fans of the show, as the season opened up last year on Lydia having learned hand-to-hand combat, as well as how to better control her Banshee powers. She was able to use the force of her scream to throw people across the room. The Beast is certainly a more worthy adversary than a couple of Eichen House orderlies, but Lydia seems capable of holding her own.
“Her finding her power is critical to the season,” Davis tells EW. “That’s why we decided to make episodes 15 and 16 a two-part episode around her, which is the breaking-Lydia-out-of-Eichen episode.”
Fans have speculated that Lydia’s time in Eichen House could limit the character’s time on screen, but so far that does not seem to be a problem. Much of the first half of season 5 was about the circumstances leading up to her admittance, and last week’s mid-season premiere showed us how she finally ended up inside the institution.
As we discussed yesterday, episode 12 will continue to work on Stiles and Scott’s relationship while also giving us a look at what’s been going on with Kira. Episode 13, will show Kira being tested in the desert.
According to EW, episode 14 will center on getting Malia back into the pack, as well as Scott’s realization that he needs Liam on his side again, too.
Once we get past episode 16, we still have four more episodes to deal with the Beast, the desert wolf, Theo, and any other surprises that might be thrown our way.
