Teen Wolf has a fair amount of bad guys walking its streets at the moment, but who’s the most likely to stab you in the back with a smile on their face?
The Dread Doctors and the Beast are certainly ones to watch out for, but there’s something worse about how Gerard and Theo can hit so close to home. They’re monsters, certainly, but they don’t look like monsters, and that makes them all the more dangerous.
With Theo’s pack lined up behind him and Gerard’s return to Chris’ side, we’re getting a bad vibe from both of them. But who’s more likely to betray our heroes?
Theo may be young, pretty, and charismatic, but he’s been a murderer for quite a long time. When he was only 10 years old, he watched as his sister died, doing nothing to rescue her. Who knows what happened to his real parents. His stand-in ‘rents surely don’t look forward to his time at home.
Theo has been consistently manipulative throughout his run on Teen Wolf, slowly pitting friends against friends. He knows everyone’s story, their weaknesses, their desires, and he uses that against them. He knows just what buttons to push so they walk themselves into his trap.
But now that Theo has a pack, will he be content to work with Scott without manipulating him behind the scenes? That’s what Theo wants Scott to believe, but it’s impossible to trust him after all he’s done. He says he wants to beat the Beast, but he destroyed the damnatio memoriae clue the monster left behind in this week’s episode.
Theo is most definitely looking out for his own best interests, but the question is whether or not those interests will stay in line with Scott’s.
Meanwhile, Gerard is not quite as personable as Theo, but he has the added benefit of being an Argent. He was, we assumed in the beginning, a powerful hunter, a loyal father, and a devoted grandfather. Unfortunately for his family, they found out too late that he no longer cared about them. He only wanted revenge and to save his own neck, even if it meant Allison’s life.
Luckily, Scott’s brilliant plan to slip him some mountain ash prior to Derek biting the Argent patriarch meant Gerard wasn’t going to come out unscathed. He was certainly still alive, but the black goo dripping from his eyes, nose, and mouth was not a good sign.
Now that Gerard is back to himself, thanks to Chris, we wonder if he’ll try to redeem himself in his son’s eyes. Chris is the only one he has left, after all, since Allison is dead and Kate has run off somewhere else to be a werejaguar. Or will Gerard want revenge on Scott? Is Gerard more than human now?
Gerard has also always looked after his own interests before anyone else’s, but now that he’s back on his own two feet, we wonder if his experiences have changed him.
Will one of these antagonists become a protagonist? Can we trust either of them? The answer to both questions is probably not, but we’re curious to see who betrays those closest to them first. If you’ve got an idea, vote in our poll below and leave your reasoning in the comments!
