Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen will return for Taken 3 alongside Liam Neeson, and the film will be the final film in the series.
For now.
Deadline is reporting that Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen are set to return for Taken 3. They are the first cast members to officially join Liam Neeson in the third film in the somewhat surprisingly popular series.
Previously it was reported that Forest Whitaker was in talks to join Taken 3 as well, but as of this point there has been no update on the progress of the talks. It’s certainly possible that they needed to guarantee that Grace and Janssen would be back before casting other roles.
Other casting announcements should be coming soon. The Grace casting report comes with the information that 20th Century Fox hopes to have casting completed by the end of the month when they would like to start shooting. As of now there has been no release date set.
The report also states that Taken 3 will be the last film in the Taken saga. This makes sense, given previous information revealed about what it took to get this movie into production.
After Taken 2 was released, star Liam Neeson said he wouldn’t return for another one.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen, I can’t see a possible scenario, that audiences wouldn’t go ‘Oh, come on. She’s taken again?’ Unless we do one where I give her away,” Neeson said.
Neeson did end up signing on for the role, and it’s likely because he was given a $20 million paycheck to do so. This was an uptick from his already large Taken 2 paycheck of $15 million.
It’s also possible he signed on because of the promises he was given about the script.
“They called me up and I said ‘I’ll do it… but only as long as nobody gets taken,'” Neeson told The Jonathan Ross Show back in February.
To summarize, nobody will get taken in Taken 3, but the people who make Taken 3 a Taken movie will all be back.
