Hypable Movie Review: ‘The Dictator’ is filled with comedic hits and misses

The Dictator, Sacha Baron Cohen’s first foray into a narrative fictional comedy, tackles politics in his typical bawdy, over-the-top style of satire. Essentially a romantic comedy in structure, with moments of absurdity as Baron Cohen continues to push the bill of acceptable comedy, while tackling our own political structure with an often gleeful, satirical irreverence.

‘The Dictator’ opening scene officially released

The first couple of minutes of Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest film The Dictator have officially been released online, giving us more insight into the direction of the film. Included in the opening sequence is a fixed Olympics, changes to a language and a bearded baby – exactly what you’d expect from a Cohen feature!

New poster for ‘The Dictator’ released

The marketing campaign for Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator has proven to be incredibly controversial – the star dumped the “ashes” of Kim Jong Il on Ryan Seacrest during the Oscars, and recycled footage of world leaders condemning real life dictators for the films trailer. Will this new poster cause as much of a stir?
