It’s a week of post-Oscars articles and so why not one more? Although many deride the Oscars for including “artsy” and “obscure” picks I must say that I disagree. In fact, there are many films that sort of went under the radar last year which deserve more attention and recognition. Thus, I am here to enlighten you!

Hypable Movie Review: ‘Shame’ is an intoxicating and harrowing portrayal of addiction

Director Steve McQueen has created a harrowing depiction of sex addiction, as Shame evokes the emotions and feelings of its characters with complex wonder. McQueen’s depiction of a thirty-something struggling to cope with his own sexual desires is at once unrelenting and honest, featuring two powerhouse performances from Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan.

‘Shame’ receives NC-17 rating; Fox Searchlight calls it a ‘badge of honor’

The latest official MPAA bulletin has been released and notably Shame, the upcoming drama from Steve McQueen (Hunger), has been branded with an NC-17 rating. Fox Searchlight, the company who recently picked up distribution rights for the film, have seemingly embraced this rating, one which usually means instant box-office failure.
