Director Michael Bay can’t seem to catch a break with his Ninja Turtles reboot, which was postponed today by Paramount Pictures. You may remember a few months back, fans of the popular TV show and live action films were up in arms over Michael Bay’s decision to rewrite the Ninja Turtles as “aliens.”
Throughout the past few days, many fans and people involved with the Ninja Turtles franchise have written in support and in dismay of Michael Bay’s idea of having the turtles be part of an alien race. One of the Ninja Turtles co-creators, Peter Laird, wrote in his blog – oddly in support of Bay’s decision.
Since Michael Bay’s recent announcement that the upcoming Ninja Turtle film reboot will feature the turtles as aliens, many fans have proclaimed their outrage that the movie won’t be true to the originals. Former Ninja Turtle voice actors Robbie Rist (Michaelangelo) and Brian Tochi (Leonardo) have spoken out with very differing opinions regarding the interesting turtle-alien race decision.
You may remember getting unreasonably excited (well, we did) when Paramount Pictures unveiled their plans to give the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles another big-screen debut. Now we have news from Michael Bay that these won’t be the same turtles from our childhood.
