We’re reaching the end of 2012 and that means another year in video games is almost complete. After intense debate we’ve narrowed down our list to the top five games of the year in 2012.

After a brief surge in AAA retail games, the lull before the storm known as the fall release schedule hits with downloadable Mark of the Ninja and various DLC as the big titles hitting this week.

Everyone knows the AAA titles coming out of E3, but we got a chance to see three smaller titles that can play with the big boys.

While big games like Borderlands 2 and Assassin’s Creed III are the things people will wait hours in line for at PAX, the show is also a great spot for independent developers to get their games seen by the public. Here are a few games that stood out at the show that you will want to keep in mind.
