It’s amazing we’re now halfway through 2012, a year that has offered plenty in the way of both blockbuster films and the smaller, more intimate indie fare. Taking that into account, it seems only fitting to offer up something a long the lines of a best of/worst of post for the first half of 2012.

Following tonight’s new episode of Mad Men, AMC released a behind-the-scenes look at 5×09 “Dark Shadows” as well as a first look at 5×10 “Christmas Waltz.”

This marking their eighth film together, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have a lot to live up to with Dark Shadows, as they attempt to make a film that feels fresh, unique, and entertaining after all these years. They are largely unsuccessful in this, as the problems run deep from the start, in a film that is neither entertaining nor redeeming from start to finish.
