2012 Oscars

Last night’s Academy Awards ceremony was a typical mixed bag of great — and not-so-great — moments. But which moments struck a chord with us one way or another? Find out after the jump!

Today, it was announced that Meryl Streep will present an Oscar this Sunday, February 26th.  Streep holds the record for the most Academy nominations of any actor in history.

It was also announced that the Kodak Theatre will not be referred to as such during the Oscars due to Kodak’s bankruptcy.

Joining the previously announced presenters for the 84th Academy Awards are comedians Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.

The Academy announced today that Angelina Jolie will be presenting an Oscar at the 84th awards ceremony on February 26th.

If you’ve seen The Artist, you know that the ten year old Jack Russell, Uggie, brings a bundle of spunk and life to the film.  Unfortunately, new reports state Uggie has a “mystery illness” which is cutting his career short.

Director Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand) has stepped down as producer of the 2012 Academy Awards due to uproar in the entertainment industry following a series of derogatory remarks the director has made during his press tour on behalf of his recently released film, Tower Heist.
