In the wake of lukewarm critical and fan reactions to Supernatural‘s potential spinoff, Bloodlines, we look at ten spinoffs we’d be excited for.
Perhaps one mistake Bloodlines made was crafting an entirely new product, from the cast to the series premise, rather than spinning off from one (or more) of the established supporting characters we’ve come to love on the parent series. Doing so would give viewers an automatic reason to invest in the series; it’s a tougher sell with an original cast.
And if a spinoff is going to use the Supernatural brand, it should seek to borrow from what makes said brand special. While mythology plays a large role in Supernatural — and consequently in the setup of Bloodlines, perhaps to a fault — it’s truly the characters that make the nine-year veteran successful. Without that connection to the parent series, a spinoff might as well be an original project, as was the case with Bloodlines.
