The Supernatural season 11 promo has arrived, and it shows some bloody torture among other dark teases.
When Supernatural season 10 ended, Dean had been rid of the Mark of Cain, but it was at the expense of releasing The Darkness, a pre-Biblical evil that was locked away by God and the archangels. When we pick up in season 11, fans can expect to find the brothers united against the external evil while Castiel fights to rid himself of the attack dog spell Rowena cast on him.
Watch our first glimpse at new footage from Supernatural season 11 below:
We see shots of both Sam and Castiel being tortured. We also see Sam looking to God for help against The Darkness, and — curiously — Crowley dressed as a priest. Dean, for his part, makes a pretty great Ghostbusters reference when he answers his phone.
“The nice thing about something as big as the Darkness is that it creates a really big ripple effect,” says EP Andrew Dabb. “And so you’re going to see how it impacts both our guys and the world of hunting. We’re also going to see how it impacts Heaven and Hell and monsters and demons and witches and everything else. And everyone is going to come together.”

Additionally, Sam’s psychic powers from earlier seasons may be making a return in season 11. Jared Padalecki previews that in episode 2, Sam “starts to have visions or dreams of a higher power. He’s also having memories that maybe weren’t memories. Sam believes there’s a higher power trying to contact him to tell him how to solve this problem.
“So it’s going to be really cool because we’re going to see a few characters via visions that we haven’t seen in Supernatural in a long time.”
This promo comes just a few hours after the Supernatural season 11 poster was released. The poster features Sam, Dean, Castiel, and Crowley; you can see it here.
Supernatural season 11 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
