The CW has released the official synopsis for the fifteenth episode of Supernatural‘s eighth season, titled “Man’s Best Friend with Benefits.”
The official press release has the following information about the episode:
DEAN REALLY DOESN’T LIKE WITCHES — A police officer named Kevin (guest star Christian Campbell), who turned to witchcraft after working a case with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), is plagued by nightmares in which he murders innocent people. However, when the murders actually happen, Sam and Dean are called in by Kevin’s “familiar” (guest star Mishael Morgan) to help — but the brothers aren’t sure they want to save a witch. John Showalter directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming.
This sounds like it’ll be a one-off episode in the wake of episode 14, which sets up the mytharc for the remainder of the season, involving the completion of three trials set by God to shut the gates of Hell permanently.
We’ve known for years that Dean hates witches, as every episode that involves them involves plenty of scorn from the elder Winchester, so it’ll be amusing to see what new insults he has in store this time. And we’re always interested in the episodes that explore the gray areas of hunting – in this case witches – and the brothers’ usually differing viewpoints.
“Man’s Best Friend with Benefits” airs Wednesday, February 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
