Supernatural season 11, episode 3, “Bad Seed,” airs tonight. Jensen Ackles directed the episode, which features Rowena’s return.
The Road So Far
After dropping Jenna and Amara off with Jenna’s grandmother, Dean intended to reunite with Sam. However, Amara began manifesting telekinetic powers, so Jenna called Dean. When he returned, though, he found Crowley posing as an exorcist. While the two argued, Amara sucked out Jenna’s soul, and Jenna slit her grandmother’s throat. Crowley eventually killed Jenna and went after Amara, who had aged up to a young girl and left.
Meanwhile, Sam ran into a reaper, Billie, at the hospital who told him that he and Dean won’t keep dying and coming back. While the old Death found it amusing, the reaper who collects them the next time they die will drop their souls in Empty, or the void. After that, Sam prayed for a sign of hope and shortly after had a vision of being tortured. As his condition worsened, he looked up Biblical purifying methods and used holy oil and fire to free himself of the contamination of the Darkness. He then helped those infected who hadn’t died yet.
As for Castiel, Efram and Jonah tortured him for the location of Metatron and the Winchesters. Hannah then appeared, though Castiel realized she’d set up the entire thing. But when Efram and Jonah took matters into their own hands, Castiel managed to kill them but Hannah ended up dead. Castiel eventually fled to the bunker, where Sam and Dean found him.
