Superman Vs. Batman may be starting filming this weekend in Los Angeles. Reports are in that director Zack Snyder is getting a jump on Man of Steel’s sequel by using a stadium to shoot some crowd reaction footage.
Earlier reports were that the Man of Steel sequel would start its production at the beginning of 2014, and would take place in Michigan, but it looks like LA fans may get a treat as reports are saying they’ll be filming this weekend.
According to East Los Angeles College Campus News (via ComingSoon) the production will be filming some takes during halftime of their football game which takes place this Saturday.
It’s being reported that once ELAC go into their locker room during half time, the stadium will be turned into Gotham City University for a game against their rival Metropolis State University.
The report says that “the first 2,000 people who sit in the filming area of the stadium will receive T-shirts designed by Snyder for those participating in the filming.”
It’s said that the filming will be very quick, as Snyder only plans on shooting three takes in an attempt to “capture the actors and crowd’s reactions.” If this ends up being true, we’re very curious if Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck will show up in their suits during the filming. It would be the first time we’d see Affleck’s new Batsuit.
We’ll be sure to let fans know if this ends up being true, but we’ll keep it under the rumor category for now, with the hopes that we’ll at least get some stunt men in the shot wearing the suits instead of the lead actors.
This feels a bit like when Christopher Nolan shot the Steelers stadium for The Dark Knight Rises and even used some of their actual players for the incredible shot where the field collapses beneath their feet during Bane’s bombings.
Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, Ben Affleck will play Batman, and director Zack Snyder, writer David S. Goyer, and producer Christopher Nolan will all be included in the project which has been given a July 17, 2015 release date.
If you go to ELAC, feel free to let us know if you’ve heard this report as well (and bring your camera phones!).
