Supergirl season 2 is bringing in former Lois Lane actor Teri Hatcher as a mysterious villain.
Hatcher, who played Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, will have a multi-episode arc, and her character will become the Big Bad of Supergirl season 2, Variety reports.
“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti], and the fans,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.
Details of her character are being kept under wraps for now, including when she will make her debut, though it would not be surprising if her villain is related to Cadmus, who was being set up as an overarching villain for the season.
While the apparent leader of Cadmus, Lillian Luthor, was arrested at the end of the mid-season finale, there’s no doubt we haven’t seen the last of the group. Could Hatcher’s character have been pulling Cadmus’ strings all along?
If Hatcher’s character is involved with Cadmus, then we might have a reunion between Hatcher and her Lois & Clark costar Dean Cain, whose character Jeremiah Danvers is currently in Cadmus’ custody, to look forward to.
Hatcher’s casting marks another instance of Supergirl paying homage to those who have been in the so-called “SuperWorld” previously. Such castings have included Cain as Jeremiah Danvers, Helen Slater as Eliza Danvers, Laura Vandervoort as Indigo and Lynda Carter as President Olivia Marsdin.
Hatcher’s numerous other credits include The Odd Couple, Jane by Design, Coraline and Desperate Housewives.
