Suits has been anything but boring since the midseason premiere and in this week’s episode, “Zane vs. Zane,” it appears to simply increase the intensity. With four episodes left in season 2, it seems as though the conflicts at Pearson Hardman will end up leaving the company in a greater state of despair than it was.
After what was definitely the most explosive episode of the series to date aired last week, many of the show’s integral relationships became fragmented with a long way to go to repair them. Mike’s relationship with Harvey, Harvey’s relationship with Louis, and Louis’ relationship with just about everybody else are all on the rocks right now.
And then there’s Mike and Rachel – who has been responding to his attempts at rekindling whatever they had with a smooth verbal slap. We knew that she was a cut above the rest, but to see her be this sharp and distant is a new side of her that viewers are unsure about. While her screen time has been lacking since the midseason return, never fear, as this week’s episode has her name in the title (twice, but we’ll get to that).
In the promo for this week’s episode, titled “Zane vs. Zane,” we see the firm, Pearson Hardman, and Rachel herself, pitted against her famous lawyer father, Robert Zane (played by The Wire’s Wendell Pierce). A quick shot of her and her father eating lunch and her angrily saying “you just don’t think I’m tough enough?” makes us think that this might be another intense episode, albeit much more personal, as it’s set to tackle a discrimination case that will make Rachel reflect on her heritage.
There are only three more episodes in the season after this week, Suitors!
What kind of state do you think Pearson Hardman will be left after the finale? Will it even still be called Pearson Hardman? Pearson Spector has a certain ring to it.
“Zane vs. Zane” will air Thursday at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
