Stephen Hawking is doing a Reddit AMA, and if your questions aren’t absolutely spectacular, he’s definitely going to sass you.
Stephen Hawking — you know, that guy who’s looking for alien life in the universe — is doing a Reddit AMA.
The celebrated physicist, whose life story was dramatized in last year’s amazing biopic The Theory of Everything, will finally answer your questions about life, the universe and everything (sorry, Douglas Adams), so you better start thinking now!

From today through August 4, the mods on Reddit will be gathering questions for Hawking, giving him time to compose lengthy answers for each one. Questions will be selected based on how many times they’re upvoted.
Hawking is specifically looking for questions about AI (artificial intelligence). The scientist has long been interested in artificial intelligence, and the usefulness (and drawbacks) of robot technologies.
He writes in the AMA announcement,
“I signed an open letter earlier this year imploring researchers to balance the benefits of AI with the risks. The letter acknowledges that AI might one day help eradicate disease and poverty, but it also puts the onus on scientists at the forefront of this technology to keep the human factor front and center of their innovations. I’m part of a campaign enabled by Nokia and hope you will join the conversation on http://www.wired.com/maketechhuman. Learn more about my foundation here: http://stephenhawkingfoundation.org/”
