Stephen Hawking, the subject of The Theory of Everything, has publicly congratulated Eddie Redmayne on his Best Actor win at the Oscars.
This Sunday, Eddie Redmayne picked up an Oscar for Best Actor at the 87th Academy Awards ceremony.

He has been showered with praise for his role as Stephen Hawking in the 2014 biopic The Theory of Everything, and yet winning the Oscar evidently blew the 33-year-old actor’s mind:
The real-life Stephen Hawking has previously expressed how happy he was with Redmayne’s portrayal, and took to Facebook to express his feelings about the big win:
Despite being nominated in several other categories, the Best Actor statuette was The Theory of Everything‘s only win of the evening. Redmayne beat out Michael Keaton (Birdman), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Steve Carell (Foxcatcher) and Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) for the award.

Most people were happy with Redmayne’s win; his only real competition seemed to be Keaton, but with all the other awards Birdman scored, we don’t think there’s too much disappointment there!
Felicity Jones, who played Jane Hawking, was nominated for a Best Actress award, but lost to Julianne Moore (Still Alice). The Theory of Everything was nominated for Best Picture, but that honor went to Birdman.
