With The Force Awakens expected to be the biggest film in the history of time*, studios are hoping to get in on the action by attaching their trailers to the seventh Star Wars.
The Hollywood Reporter says Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond — the third installment in the Star Trek reboot series — is set to premiere in theaters with The Force Awakens next Friday. This’ll be our first look at the new Star Trek movie starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, and Zachary Quinto.
Notably, this’ll be the first Star Trek movie of the trilogy not directed by J.J. Abrams, who directed The Force Awakens. Star Trek Beyond is helmed by Justin Lin, who directed Fast & Furious 6.
THR believes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Huntsman’s Winter War, X-Men Apocalypse, and Independence Day: Resurgence are “likely” to have their trailers running in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Trek aside, these films will hit theaters in the first half of 2016.
The newest trailer for Batman v Superman premiered last week and presented a lighter mood than the darker previews preceding it. The trailer arrived one week after Marvel dropped the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War.
Since Marvel is owned by Disney, one has to assume the two studios are hoping to include the Civil War trailer with Star Wars as well.
We’ll be sure to share the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond whenever it drops online. If it’s truly coming with The Force Awakens, expect it to be released online in about a week from now!
