The second trailer for Star Trek Beyond has been released following a special event on the Paramount Studios Lot.
A star-studded event in Los Angeles on Friday night ushered in a new trailer for the third Star Trek installment, Star Trek Beyond. At the same ceremony, in tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy, Paramount unveiled “Leonard Nimoy Way” on their lot.
The trailer begins with Kirk still grappling with who he should become — until things start getting crazy aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. One of those enemies? Krall played by Idris Elba!
And here is a photo of the unveiling of Leonard Nimoy Way. As you can see, Star Trek’s Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, director Justin Lin, and producer J.J. Abrams were present for tonight’s event:

Paramount also announced tonight that the world premiere of Star Trek Beyond will take place at San Diego Comic-Con this July. The event “will feature special appearances by Lin and the Star Trek Beyond filmmakers and cast, as well as a live concert performance of Academy Award®-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s film score by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.”

The movie hits theaters July 22 and is directed by Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin. According to a synopsis, “the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.”
