Paramount has delayed Star Trek: Beyond by two weeks. Its new release date pits it against Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur.
The third installment in the new Star Trek movie series, titled Beyond, is hitting theaters on July 22, 2016.
Variety reports the two-week shift, noting that Star Trek: Beyond will now be competing with both Warner Bros.’ new King Arthur flick (starring Charlie Hunnam), and Fox’s Ice Age: Collision Course.
On July 8, Beyond would have faced Kevin Hart’s The Secret Life of Pets, and the Zac Efron vehicle Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

Star Trek: Beyond is directed by Justin Lin, and reunites Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg.
Lin takes over from J.J. Abrams, fresh off several installments of the Fast & Furious franchise.
The third movie follows the crew as they embark on a five-year mission. It introduces Idris Elba as a (Klingon?) villain, and is likely Quinto’s last turn as Mr. Spock.
Simon Pegg, who also serves as co-writer on Beyond, spoke to Den of Geek earlier this year about his thoughts on the lukewarmly-received Star Trek: Into Darkness, and how the third movie is going to be different.
Said Pegg, “I had certain issues with Into Darkness as well. It’s interesting to be able to take those forward and be at the helm a little bit. You’re always learning when you’re working with a series of movies because you go okay, what did people like there? What did people not like? What did we like? …We learned a lot.”
