Last night, comedian Amy Schumer made her debut as host on SNL along with musical guest The Weekend.
Amy Schumer opened with a monologue where she recaps working with the handsome and gorgeous Bradley Cooper, as well as being hacked.
In the first sketch of the night, Amy Schumer and Vanessa Bayer played enthusiastic Delta Airlines flight attendants who love the Spice Girls. That is until everything went horribly wrong. “I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE PLANE,” screamed Bayer. Keep an eye out for Taran Killam’s ridiculous screams too!
In one of the funnier sketches, Schumer and Kyle Mooney play a teacher and student trying to recreate a steamy fantasy porno, but a nerdy student played by Aidy Bryant keeps interrupting the action!
In one of the commercial parodies of the night, SNL took on guns, one of the hottest topics in politics right now given the recent tragedies. “From first loves to new beginnings, wherever life takes you, guns,” says the narrator as people give guns as gifts in the spoof. Check it out below.
The Weeknd performed two songs which also included a surprise performance by Nikki Minaj.
Later in the episode, Schumer played Mary Todd Lincoln alongside Taran Killam as Abraham Lincoln in a reenactment tour in Washington, D.C. Schemer’s interpretation is slightly different than what went down in actual history.
Have you ever wanted a hands-free selfie stick? If so, SNL has you covered in the second commercial parody of the night which includes a contraption that goes somewhere selfie sticks were never meant to go.
Overall, Amy Schumer was an absolute natural on the stage at Studio 8H. Her sketches were hilarious, or at least kept you interested, which can’t be said about every first-time host. With Amy’s comedic background and recent breakthrough, we suspect that she’ll be invited back to host SNL again in the future.
Next week SNL slum Tracy Morgan returns to Studio 8H for his first appearance as host, and first major appearance since his tragic car accident in 2014. Demi Lovato will be the musical guest.
