It turns out SNL will have some new faces this season as it just announced that Jon Rudnitsky will join the cast as a featured player.
Rudnitsky is a stand-up comedian from New Jersey who recently won the 2012 Laugh Factory Laugh Bowl. He may be best known for his YouTube following where he has done parodies of House of Cards and True Detective.
Saturday Night Live will return on October 3 with host Miley Cyrus, who just dropped a new surprise, free album following her hosting the MTV Video Music Awards last night. Amy Schumer and SNL alum Tracy Morgan will also host this season on October 10 and 17 respectively. Morgan will return to the stage for the first time after his near-fatal car accident that left him in the hospital in 2014.
This summer was notably quiet for the late night comedy show, which has struggled with losses of major cast members exiting the show for bigger successes. Last season saw a reboot of the cast, which was generally received positively by fans of the show.
SNL cast members continue to make their mark on the big screen as well. Current cast members Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones join SNL alum Kristen Wiig and sketch artist master Melissa McCarthy in the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, which hits theaters July 2016.
