Are you ready to purchase an obscene amount of toys for Skylanders Giants, hitting this week?
In response to the surprise phenomenon of the original Skylanders, Activision decided to make a sequel that, no surprise, is bigger with even more toys. Genius marketing aside, the original Skylanders was a kids game that was not horrible and actually had a really cool concept. Before purchasing, just know what kind of rabbit hole you are jumping down.
If that is not your thing, perhaps the grittier sequel to the Medal of Honor reboot, subtitled Warfighter may catch your interest. Though I’m not sure how the game will turn out quality wise, I do have a suspicion it will be overshadowed by both Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 later this year. There is only so much first-person shooter a market can take, though I’ve been wrong before.
Also out this week is Forza Horizon. In a slight move away from the simulation-racing style of the series’ past, this entry is a little friendlier to amateur drivers and looks good.
Finally, if you are looking for something a little more indie, I would regret not leading you to The Unfinished Swan. Though early reviews have been mixed, it is a great concept that Sony is embracing.
