When SimCity was released last month, only Windows users could play.
Now, the SimCity for Mac release date has finally been unveiled.
In a post on the SimCity forums this morning, EA announced that SimCity for Mac will be released on June 11, 2013. The publisher had been promising a spring release date all along, but this is a little longer of a wait than we anticipated.
There was also good news for those who have separate Windows and Mac computers: You only need one copy of the game to play on both machines. Fans were worried that they’d have to buy separate versions, so it’s a relief to officially hear two copies aren’t needed.
SimCity for Mac will use the same servers as those currently available, and you will be able to play the same cities you’ve already built on your Windows computers.
We’re thrilled the SimCity for Mac release date has finally been set and hope there aren’t any server problems like those that plagued the Windows launch last month. Given the Mac operating system’s market share is significantly smaller than Windows’, we can’t imagine there being any launch problems.
This editor has been using Bootcamp on his Mac computer to play SimCity on a Windows installation. We’re looking forward to no longer having to reboot our computer to enter Windows just to play SimCity.
