Finding Dory may be about a forgetful fish, but Sia’s song for the end credits will be “Unforgettable.”
The song closing out Disney’s Finding Dory will be a cover of Irvin Gordon’s song from 1951, titled “Unforgettable.”
Sia will be covering the closing number, Disney announced Friday morning. As Ellen DeGeneres of course voices the main character of Dory, it was only fitting that Sia should debut her version of the song on The Ellen Show. Check it out:
Before this, the most well-known cover of the song (if you remember) is by Natalie Cole, who sang a duet version of the song with her father Nat King Cole on her 1991 album Unforgettable… With Love. This version won Irving Gordon a Grammy in 1992.
You can watch that version as well and compare:
Via Disney’s press release, Sia explains why she chose to perform the song for Finding Dory. “Dory’s story makes me teary,” she says. “When Ellen asked me, I couldn’t refuse!”

“In the same way Robbie Williams did his own unique twist on a classic song for Finding Nemo, Sia captures the soulful truth of the Nat King Cole classic ‘Unforgettable,’ and makes it all her own,” adds Finding Dory director Andrew Stanton. “They are a perfect complement to one another, just like the two films.”
Thomas Newman scores the soundtrack to Finding Dory, which will be available the same day the movie opens in cinemas, on June 17, 2016.
Here’s the synopsis of Finding Dory:
“Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks) and Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence). When Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents: Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz; and Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark. Deftly navigating the complex inner workings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family.”
