Here we go again! As promised, Sherlock series 4 and a mysterious special have started to film in England, and a few interesting photos from set have already surfaced.
The Sherlock special, which is rumored to debut this Christmas, is currently filming in Bristol within the Colton Hall cellars. They look like this inside:
Producer and co-star Mark Gatiss was the first to confirm news of the Sherlock special filming today. He shared this tantalizing photo:
Fans who are trying to catch glimpses of the Sherlock filming say that there are many extras dressed in Edwardian clothing. That, coupled with the fact that Watson is sporting a mustache and Sherlock is wearing a bowtie, means this is going to be one of the most unique episodes of Sherlock we’ve seen so far.
In photos we see that Benedict Cumberbatch has his hair slicked back – similar to how it was in Star Trek Into Darkness when he portrayed Khan – for filming. You can also see Sherlock’s bowtie which, naturally, reminds us of a certain recent Doctor:
Martin Freeman is sporting quite the mustache. Even from a good distance it looks like that ‘stache is taking up a large part of his upper lip:
A photo from the table read for the Sherlock special in late November showed that the two lead characters would be wearing top hats, which suggests that this may be a story about the “classic” Sherlock:
The BBC is remaining quiet (for now) about what story this Sherlock special will tell. We do know that the cast and crew will begin shooting series 4 after the special finishes filming.
We expect that the new series will air on television in early January, like series 3 did.
What do you make of the ‘Sherlock’ special set photos?
We’ll continue to keep an eye on photos from the set and share interesting ones as they surface! If previous shoots for the last couple series were any indication, many photos will be hitting social media.
