With most of its lead roles now in place, The Mortal Instruments TV series Shadowhunters has started casting a slew of supporting roles.
The latest person to join the cast is David Castro, who will play the vampire Raphael in ABC Family’s forthcoming series.
“An elegantly handsome, well-dressed vampire, Raphael is ambitious and cunning, aspiring to lead the New York vampire clan,” according to a statement from the network. They say Castro is in a recurring role, meaning he won’t be appearing in every episode but will pop up in many.

Shadowhunters, an adaptation of the Mortal Instruments book series by Clare, is expected to premiere later this year on ABC Family. It stars Katherine McNamara as Clary and Dominic Sherwood as Jace. Meanwhile, Alberto Rosined will play Simon, Emeraude Toubia will play Isabelle, Matthew Daddario will play Alec, Isaiah Mustafa will play Luke, and Harry Shum Jr. will play Magnus.
