Scream Queens episode 9, “Ghost Stories,” aired last night and featured the return of Boone in ways some of us may not have seen coming!
Episode 9 of Scream Queens opens with Boone chatting with his accomplice while still wearing the terrible bearded disguise we saw at the end of the last episode. Chanel No.3 runs into him and Boone insists that he’s not actually alive — he’s a ghost. This freaks Chanel No.3 out and she runs with it for the rest of the episode.
It’s the last night in the Kappa house before they evacuate, after Munsch declared the campus shut down on last week’s episode. They decide to tell each other ghost stories with each story finding its way into real life. Denise tells a few stories, including one about choosing red or blue toilet paper in the bathroom. Sure enough, she heads to the bathroom and finds herself in the same position before getting attacked by a Red Devil — though she survives.
Chanel is excited to receive the silver turkey wishbone from Chad, which is the first step towards an eventual engagement ring before Christmas. Boone shows up in Chad’s room, where Chad first wonders how Boone could be back from the dead, but then also thinks that Boone is a ghost. For some of us, we assumed that Chad was one of the Red Devils, but it looks like his never-ending ignorance and stupidity is truly just who he is.
After the bathroom attack, Chanel No.5 peaces out of the Kappa house because she refuses to sit around and get murdered. On her drive away, she basically recreates the exact ghost story that Chanel No.6 told earlier in the night. She jumps out of her car because a truck driver was trying to kill her. The driver informs her he was actually trying to tell her that there was a guy in the back seat trying to kill her, but before he can get the whole story out, a Red Devil appears and kills him. Chanel freaks out and heads back to the Kappa house.
Back at the Kappa house Zayday is about to make out with her boyfriend Earl Grey before he abruptly leaves to make sure he gets his massage oils ready. As he leaves, Boone appears in the window and tells Zayday he is a ghost, but as you might expect, she doesn’t buy it. Grace stumbles in and both she and Zayday confront Boone about the fork mark on his arm (remember when Zayday stabbed a Red Devil with a fork?). Boone falls out of the window but manages to escape. However, on Earl Grey’s way back to the Kappa house, he gets stabbed in the back by a Red Devil. In this scene, the Red Devil finally takes off his mask to reveal his true identity: Boone! So there it is, one Red Devil revealed. And we confirmed that Gigi was the attacker with the Justice Scalia mask. So who is the second Red Devil? More on that in a second.
Meanwhile, Hester tells the Chanels that she is pregnant with Chad’s baby. Chanel storms in to talk to Chad about it and Chad says that he obviously has to marry Hester now — that’s just how his family works. As a result, Chanel gets the other Chanels on board to try to kill Hester — it’s the only way. And after eating some sushi and champagne and a heated exchange in which Hester admits that she actually isn’t pregnant with Chad’s baby, Chanel runs after her and pushes her backwards down the steps — full bling neck brace and all — and kills her. Chanel says they should take her body to the freezer and that’s the last we see of her. Is that the end of Hester and Lea Michele’s character? Something tells us that she’s not quite done yet.
In the final moments of the episode, Munsch reveals more details about the babies: there wasn’t just one, there were two, and they were twins. She confirms that Boone is in fact the boy but that there was a girl as well. Is this where Joe Jonas pops out in drag!? Sadly, no. But we can be all but certain that the other Red Devil is Boone’s twin sister, right? But who is that exactly?
In one of the final scenes of the episode, Boone is sitting and chatting with the masked Red Devil when Gigi enters. Gigi isn’t happy with the way Boone has been handling things and insinuates that he is blowing their cover. Boone freaks out at her and corners her along with the Red Devil, while saying that maybe it’s time for Gigi to go. The Red Devil comes up behind them both, and in a dramatic twist, stabs and kills Boone and not Gigi.
With only three episodes left, there is still so much to be explained about the remaining living Red Devil, Gigi, and everyone’s motives. Do you have any idea who the living Red Devil could be now that one has been killed?
