After a two-month wait, Scandal season 4 is finally back! In case you weren’t already excited, creator Shonda Rhimes has high praise for episode 10, titled “Run.”
Update: Read our recap of tonight’s crazy episode!
Earlier this week we offered you a guide to what happened during the Scandal fall finale, and now’s a good time to read that again. Why? By all accounts, it sounds like tonight’s mid-season premiere is going to be very exciting.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday, Rhimes had high praise for Scandal season 4, episode 10. Just look at this tidbit from the article:
The way we kick off the [mid]season is really exciting,” Rhimes [said,] calling the return episode “Run,” her “favorite episode of television” that she’s ever written and done overall. “It’s very shocking. I think it’s going to be very interesting for the audience. It’s not anything that you would expect from Scandal.”
For Rhimes to call an episode her “favorite episode of television” is a big deal. Just think about how many classic episodes of Scandal and Grey’s she’s created over the years.
While she didn’t divulge any spoilers in her THR chat, she did say Olivia Pope will “never” be the same again in light of what happened during the Scandal mid-season finale.
That may sound like hyperbole, but Rhimes doubled down on that tease by saying Olivia won’t be worrying about deciding between Jake and Fitz anymore. “In the mid-season finale, she made her final decision: She was done. Now, we’re at a place where when we come back, the world is so changed that I don’t know that that’s a relevant question,” Rhimes said of Olivia’s love triangle.
So where does Ms. Pope go from here? ABC has confirmed that the Scandal mid-season 4 premiere will pick up from Olivia’s point of view right after she was captured by the Vice President’s men. Remember, Andrew is holding her captive until Fitz agrees to a war with West Angola. Presumably the President will have to break his promise about not going to war in order to get his woman back.
No photos have been released from Scandal season 4, episode 10, which suggests that ABC couldn’t find one moment that wouldn’t be a spoiler. That’s exciting, right? Based on everything we’ve known and heard, it sounds like this episode will have a lot of shock value.
The teaser trailer reminds you that Jake was left hanging:
