Revenge is serving up something delicious so far this season, and we are happy to take a second helping. Check out our Revenge recap from last night’s episode, “Resurrection.”
We begin with a flashback/dream of little Emily (Amanda) in the car with her mother. But like tiny Amanda questions – where is her father? Is she trying to take Amanda away from her father?
And since we’re on the topic of David’s potential untrustworthiness, can we really assume that David Clarke was such a good guy if he genuinely wanted to be with Victoria? She seemed like a manipulative jerk 20 years ago, too.
Cut to present day: Nolan wakes up Emily, and they discuss Victoria. She’s lying about working with the government, and whatever is happening has something to do with Charlotte.
Daniel is concerned about Grayson Global’s finances not matching up, and Ashley tries to distract him. Daniel receives a call from Emily – a potential for tension between Ashley and Daniel? It seems like Emily is showing more concern for Charlotte than Ashley is.
Emily shares with Daniel that she thinks Charlotte’s doctor fixed the drug test results so Charlotte would be deemed incompetent and her inheritance would be released to her father. Charlotte has been saying this all along, but Emily knows Daniel will take action.
And we get a quick shot of Aiden! He’s spying on Emily – but is he keeping an eye on her or is he plotting against her? We would like to see him a little more.
We also learned that the white-haired man has been working with Victoria to keep her in hiding and to keep the Initiative (the terrorist group) “off their trail.” He’s also gotten fake passports for her and Charlotte (names: Veronica and Samantha Clarke – not too clever). Victoria, though, still needs to pay him with Charlotte’s inheritance that she has not yet acquired. He takes her passport as insurance that he’ll be paid.
Emily, as usual, is watching all of this and plans to pull Charlotte away from her mother, ensuring that both of the Graysons stay in town.
One of the things that was lacking in this episode was Nolan’s screen time. Yes, we saw that Nolcorp was being audited and he seemed to hit it off with Padma, whom he wants to hire as CFO (but she’s not even out of grad school yet!), because up until now he has refused to have a CFO. We smell something brewing between Nolan and Padma.
Amanda visits Emily, asking her to accept her place as Jack’s girlfriend (even though she knows Emily loves Jack), and also to fix the paternity test results if it turns out Jack is not the father. We learn from Amanda that she had a one-night stand the first time she went away. Emily agrees to switch the results if necessary, but will she really?
Meanwhile, at Cliffside Rehab Center, Charlotte Grayson is about to find freedom. Daniel confronts Dr. Thomas and threatens him, making sure Charlotte will be released. However, when Daniel goes to take Charlotte home, she says he’s acting too late. Her inheritance is gone. He should have spoken up sooner.
Emily comes in at just the right time, and Charlotte asks her to take her to Victoria. On the way though, Emily takes Charlotte to see the very pregnant Amanda, which changes her mind about fleeing the country with Victoria. While Emily watches the two of them, we get a brief hint of emotion from Em – she seems to be feeling regret that she isn’t the one having that sisterly moment with Charlotte.
Problems ensue when Charlotte makes it to her mom and tells her the inheritance is gone and that she wants to stay to be with Amanda, but is upset when Victoria seems to only care about the money. She’s driving Charlotte away. But is this on purpose?
Grayson Global seems to be continuing full force, and we get a peek at Aiden, apparently serving as a representative for Takeda. But things aren’t going to be smooth for long. First Daniel comes to tell his father how disgusted he is, and then Conrad gets a call from not-dead Victoria. And she has a plan.
And that’s how Victoria ends up beaten and handcuffed in her hideaway cottage, all to be blamed on the white-haired man. She and Conrad create the story that WHM abducted her and held her for ransom – and Conrad gets to tell Daniel that’s why he needed Charlotte’s trust fund money!
Speaking of Daniel and Charlotte, he gets back into her good graces by taking out a trust fund in her name, depositing all of his money into it. Ashley, however, doesn’t seem too pleased with this move. We’re ready to get rid of Ashley.
Victoria knows that Emily knows the truth from Charlotte, and she needs to find a way to keep her from revealing it. But Emily has someone else who knows the truth – the white-haired man knows Emily filmed everything from the “clam cam.” He knows she can exonerate him.
On the other side of town, Amanda and Jack learn that Jack is the father of Amanda’s baby, according to the test results. Then Emily tells Amanda she forged the results. And finally Emily tells Nolan that she just told Amanda the test results were faked. So is Jack the father? We’re still not so sure.
Could Emily be setting Amanda up to tell Jack the “truth,” that Emily fixed the results?
And what is up with this kid stalking Declan, asking him to hold onto jewelry for money? Is he setting him up for something?
In the final scene of the episode, we see Emily showing the WHM the video evidence that can get him off the hook. In return though, Emily wants to know about her mother. According to the WHM (whose name might be Gordon Ruffey, as we see in the flashback), Mrs. Clarke could have proven her husband’s innocence, but the Graysons had her put away by the WHM. He was supposed to kill her, but didn’t for some reason.
We never know why because our white-haired friend then tries to kill Emily. She’s struggling to fight him off when – bam!- he is shot dead by none other than Aiden Mathis.
Good thing Aiden was keeping an eye on Emily.
And of course, our favorite Nolan-isms of the evening:
- When Emily asks, “Is Victoria’s heart still beating?” Nolan responds, “Was it ever?”
- “You just expect me to be you exceptionally dressed technologically savvy sidekick.”
