Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter) has signed on to Wes Anderson’s next film, Grand Budapest Hotel!
Originally Johnny Depp had signed on to star in Anderson’s upcoming film, but Deadline reports that didn’t work out. Instead, Fiennes is now taking Depp’s place in the film.
Fiennes is known for taking on many villain roles, including Voldemort in Harry Potter, Hades in Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans, and will also star in the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall, due out next month. The character description of whom Fiennes will play hasn’t been revealed yet, so it’ll be interesting to see if whether or not he’ll be an evil character!
Grand Budapest Hotel is Anderson’s follow-up to his summer box office success this year, Moonrise Kingdom, which he directed and wrote. Described as a “European story,” IMDb reports that Billy Murray, Owen Wilson, Jude Law, and Angela Lansbury are on board for Budapest. The rumors of Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, and Willem Dafoe starring are still unconfirmed.
What do you think of Fiennes now starring in place of Depp? Do you think Fiennes will play an evil character, or would you like him to take on a more lighthearted role? Leave us your thoughts below!
