After much will he, won’t he, Quentin Tarantino will make The Hateful Eight his next movie.
The status of The Hateful Eight has been in question for a while. Originally, Tarantino had revealed that he intended to make the Western his next project. After that, the script was leaked online and he dropped all plans to work on the project again. It had seemed at that point that the film would never come to fruition, but in April Tarantino did a stage live read of the script and said that he was working on further drafts.
Now, it finally looks as if Tarantino will be making The Hateful Eight his next film after all. According to Showbiz 411, the cast will gather in Wyoming to shoot the film this November.
As per the report, the cast will include Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, and Zoe Bell. The cast is said to include all the members of the live read, which the report’s list does not name all of them. It’s unclear whether this is an oversight or if those cast members are being recast. The unlisted cast members that appeared in the live read are James Parks, Denis Menochet, Tim Roth, and Dana Gourrier.
Sadly, the cast as revealed here does not include Christoph Waltz, who Tarantino had wanted as per the initial report. Waltz appeared in Tarantino’s last two films (Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained) and won Oscars for both of them.
The story of The Hateful Eight takes place in post-Civil War Wyoming and tells the story of a group of passengers from a stagecoach who are stranded during a blizzard, most of which takes place in a bar.
