Another month passes, and another issue of Corocoro reveals some more information about the upcoming pair of Pokémon titles, set for release this November. This time around, we get a look at three brand-new Mega Pokémon, along with some information about the Primal forms of the games’ featured Legendary duo – Groudon and Kyogre.
First up is Mega Sharpedo, sporting a sawtoothed nose and plenty of go-faster stripes. Mega Sharpedo gets a boost to all of its stats, along with the ability Strong Jaws – formerly exclusive to the prehistoric Tyrantrum – which amps up all of Sharpedo’s bite attacks, such as Crunch and Ice Fang. With its already impressive Attack and Speed stats, Mega Sharpedo looks set to tear up the competition in this frightful new form.
Camerupt, the oft-overlooked volcanic camel Pokémon, is also getting a lava-ly new Mega Evolution. While its Speed will take a hit – likely due to the strain of carrying around an ACTIVE VOLCANO on its back! – all of its other stats will receive a big boost to compensate. In addition, Mega Camerupt receives the ability of Sheer Force. This ability negates the secondary effects of Camerupt’s moves – such as a chance to inflict a burn, or drop a stat for the opponent – but gives them a massive boost in power to compensate. This ability has seen use on Nidoking and Landorus in the past to great effect, and with moves like Earth Power and Fire Blast at its disposal, Mega Camerupt could well become the next Vesuvius come November.
And finally, there is Mega Gallade! The Psychic and Fighting-type Pokémon adds some improved elbow-blades to its arsenal. Mega Gallade acquires Inner Focus, an ability that prevents it from flinching in battle. Mega Gallade is often overlooked in favour of his cousin Gardevoir – this new form could well change that!
Finally, new details regarding the poster children of Pokémon OR/AS have been revealed. Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon each receive a new ability – the former will use Sea of Beginnings, while the latter brings Land of Endings to the table. There’s no word yet on what these abilities do, other than bringing heavy rain and intense sunlight respectively. How these abilities will differ from Drizzle and Drought remains to be seen, but you can be sure that these already terrifying Legendary Pokémon will be even more earth-shaking now!
Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Pokémon: Alpha Sapphire are set for a near-worldwide release on November 21 this year (sorry Europe, you’ll get your turn on the 28). With a ton of new features already revealed, what other surprises will be thrown our way before the wait is over? For now, tell us in the comments which of these three new Mega Pokémon you’re most excited to see in action!
Thanks, Serebii.
