Episode #66 – The Route Not Taken

Hosted by Selina Wilken, Marama Whyte, Pamela Gocobachi

September 23, 2015

This week, Hypable’s Hype Podcast tackles the 2015 Emmy Awards, the new Mockingjay trailer, Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me, Jenna Coleman leaving Doctor Who, and much more.

How We Hype:
We sing the praises of Ricki and the Flash and Mindy Kaling’s new book Why Not Me. Pam reviews the new James Bond boxset Steelbooks, and we talk about the PS3 game Lollipop Chainsaw (because why not?!).

News:
– Emmy Awards! What wins were we most excited about, and what snubs hurt us the most? (Cough Parks and Rec)
– Hollywood names Friends its favorite show. What’s ours? (Picking just one is harder than it seems!)
– New Mockingjay, Part 2 trailer! Did it give too much away?
Gambit loses Rupert Wyatt as director, we remain unphased
– Is Emily Blunt the only person who could replace Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins, or is the whole thing just doomed to fail?
– New The Good Dinosaur trailer, this time with voices
– Sam Smith previews Spectre single, we’re intrigued
– Jenna Coleman is officially leaving Doctor Who. Does this mean we’ll give the show another chance?
Once Upon a Time to launch LGBTQ storyline in s5… too little too late?
– New Pottermore stuff! Insert reaction here!

TV Show of the Week:
Marama gave the Doctor Who season 9 premiere a chance, and Pam is catching up on Empire.

As always we round out the show with Hot on Hypable, listing some of the most exciting features on the site this week, and Listener Feedback!

Thanks again to our listener Phoebe, who felt the need to send me this picture. I don’t know why, but I’m certainly not complaining!
