Hosted by Natalie Fisher, Mitchel Clow, and Jack Farrugia

December 8, 2014

Glee Chat Flashbacks is back for Glee season 2, episode 11, “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle,” and episode 12, “Silly Love Songs.”

Brief news:
-Season 6 starts on Jan 9th, a Friday night!
-And we start the episode right off the bat with a really random season 6 spoiler of a returning minor character.

Glee season 2, episode 11, “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle”

-Can we please do a Christmas episode only recap?
Glee was the post-Superbowl show when this aired, making this the most watched Glee episode ever.
-Maybe every episode of television should have ten minutes extra.
-Quinn is a good leader for the Unholy Trinity.
-In the same breath that Sue saves Kurt’s life, she damns Brittany to a firey death. What?
-No Quinn whyyyyy that was so premeditated.
-So how can Glee occupy both ends of the bullying spectrum at the same time?
-Azimio is fairly educated, per his reference to Minstrel theatre.
-Why do the football players hate music in their school so much?
-Puck doesn’t get enough credit for his epic speech.
-Santana is even more dangerous than Sue.
-Max Adler has the subtly of a real drama actor.
-Internalized homophobia is a really counterintuitive trauma.
-If only Karofsky took Finn’s offer to join the Glee Club…
-“Bills, Bills, Bills” had a really annoying vocal effect.
-Quinn and Finn are an odd power couple.
-Mitch. Loves. Diana Agron.
-“Need You Now” was insanley popular at the time.
-“She’s Not There” was a forced zombie song.
-“Thriller/Heads Will Roll” was a great number, and introduced mainstream audiences to a really unique band.

Glee season 2, episode 12, “Silly Love Songs”

-Why does Santana care so much about Puck and Zizes?
*Note: Here, we originally discussed sensitive material about body image that was edited out and placed at the end of the episode, post-credits. The conversation relates to the Puck and Zizes dynamic in relation to the musical number, “Fat Bottomed Girls.”*
-Ah, Klaine, you had all the potential of being so good.
-Or did you? Mitch thinks Kurt was out for revenge against the Gap guy.
-Is Kurt falling in love with Blaine in a MySpace romance kind of way?
-Wait why do Finn and Quinn like each other again?
-So Finn didn’t feel fireworks for Rachel, but did that matter as much?
-We went to that Gap in The Grove!!!
-Ah, Robin Thicke. You’ve always been such a gem.

Trigger warning: sensitive post-credits topic:

After the hosts say goodbye, we give one final trigger warning for our conversation about the sensitive subject of body image and some subtopics related to it. As Natalie states, we are not experts on the topic by any means and are mearly expressing our personal opinions on this admittedly touchy subject. Please listen to the after-credits portion of this episode of Glee Chat with caution. If there was an opinion expressed that upset you, please use due diligence in continuing our insightful and respectful conversation in the comments below.
